Home insurance calculator: how much will you pay?

Enter your situation and the size of your home: the tool estimates the yearly premium range of a multi-risk policy in Luxembourg, and tells you what will push it up.

Guide updated: October 2026

In Luxembourg, a multi-risk home insurance policy costs from under €200 a year for a rented studio to over €700 for a large house. This calculator places your home on that scale using benchmarks published in 2026, then flags the options that will push the premium up. It gives an order of magnitude, not a price: only a quote takes your address, the value of your belongings and the chosen cover into account.

  • No option ticked: the range matches a standard multi-risk policy.

Benchmarks: AXA Luxembourg (30 m² studio, €15,000 of contents, €15 to €20 a month; 70 m² flat, €35,000 of contents, €25 to €30 a month; page updated on 7 August 2026) and market ranges surveyed in July and August 2026 (tenant and owner of a flat of about 90 m², house of about 150 m²). Each benchmark is scaled to your area, then the results are weighted by closeness of area and rounded to the nearest ten.

An order of magnitude, not an offer: the real price depends on the insurer, the address, the declared value of your contents and the cover chosen. The calculation runs in your browser; nothing is transmitted or stored.

How to read the result

  • Estimated yearly premium: the range of a standard multi-risk policy for your profile and area, with no deductible, as is customary in Luxembourg.
  • Closest published benchmark: the published example that weighs most in the calculation. The closer your area is to it, the more solid the estimate.
  • Points to check: each ticked box flags a guarantee that raises the premium. No public source prices these options: the calculator flags them, it does not make them up.

Where the figures come from

The calculator relies on five published benchmarks. AXA Luxembourg prices two tenant cases: a studio of about 30 m² with €15,000 of contents, between €15 and €20 a month, and a 70 m² flat with €35,000 of contents, between €25 and €30 a month. The market ranges surveyed for our Luxembourg home insurance comparison complete the picture: €250 to €450 a year for a tenant of about 90 m², €300 to €500 for an owner-occupier of a flat of similar size, €500 to €750 for a house of about 150 m².

Between two benchmarks, the premium does not follow the area proportionally: according to AXA’s two examples, multiplying the area by 2.3 multiplies the premium by only 1.6. The calculator applies this slope to each benchmark, then favours those whose area is closest to yours. Far from any benchmark, it tells you so.

What really changes your premium

  • Your status: a tenant insures contents and liability towards the landlord; an owner also insures the building, which weighs more. Details in our article tenant or owner, what do you need to insure?
  • Area and type of home: a house costs more to insure than a flat of comparable size, because the risk exposure differs.
  • The value of your contents: the more your belongings are worth, the higher the premium. Declare a realistic value: below it, the proportional rule cuts the compensation.
  • The address: near the Alzette, the Moselle or the Sûre, flood cover becomes essential. The Water Management Administration’s flood maps can be viewed on geoportail.lu.
  • Options: valuables, new-for-old value, sustainable equipment, portable belongings worldwide.

What the calculator does not know

No public benchmark covers the tenant of a whole house: for that case, as for a co-owned flat whose building is already insured by the co-owners’ association, ask for a quote. The calculator knows neither your exact address, nor the real value of your belongings, nor each insurer’s discounts, and it does not price options. The market ranges date from 2026; they will be reviewed at the next survey.

Your questions, answered

Does the calculator give an insurer’s price?

No. It places your home against benchmarks published in 2026, a priced example from AXA and market ranges. The real price depends on the insurer, the address, the declared value of your contents and the cover chosen: only a quote sets it.

Why does the premium not rise as much as the area?

Some guarantees, such as private liability, do not depend on the size of the home. According to the two examples published by AXA, going from 30 to 70 m² multiplies the area by 2.3 and the premium by only 1.6.

I rent a whole house: which range applies?

No public benchmark covers this case, so the calculator does not estimate it. You insure your contents and rental liability over a larger area than in a flat: ask for a quote, stating the area and the value of your belongings.

Is what I enter stored?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser; nothing is transmitted or kept.
